Spike Jonze is an American director, producer who began his career in 1989 and since which he has created many music videos, commercials, films and involved with TV. Flashing Lights
The Kanye West song was co directed by Spike Jonze. There were three separate and different videos made for "flashing lights" however only one ever managed to make it onto any music channel. The whole video was shot in slow motion and this is clear when you look at the actions of the actress. The meaning and story behind the video comes entirely from the lyrics and it follows a (very successful) man who is on a 'business trip' and is found cheating on his wife, while attempts to apologise only fail. The start of the song begins with 'She don't believe in shooting stars' which shows she doesn't care wether her partner doesn't care for superstars and can't excuse him of his actions. The whole video follows a narrative based on Kanye's lyrics.
The Suburbs
The Arcade Fire song which had a lot of speculation around the music video that Jonze directed due to it's extreme nature. The video can be seen to be a metaphor for adulthood, depicting the army as the debt collectors, politicians and mortgage lenders, where you are trapped and helpless, escaping from the lively childhood to the dark and afraid adults.
